Sexual Sin-A Prophetic Warning about Sexual Sin

The prophets have warned that sexual sin will lead to misery for an individual or a family. The law of chastity that prohibits sexual sin cannot be violated in any degree without drawing down the wrath of heaven upon the individual and causing him/her untold suffering.

“Spiritual and emotional damage always come from sharing physical intimacies with someone outside of marriage.” 1

Examples of sexual sin

Sexual sin is:

• With or without a partner of either gender
• With or without clothing
• Reading, listening to or viewing sexual or questionable literature, music, movies, etc.
• On a computer
• Entertaining sexual thoughts
• Speaking sexual words
• Engaging in any activity that sexually arouses yourself or another in any degree
• Casually flirting or engaging in any act that has sexual overtones

Any of these activities are examples violations of the law of chastity and sexual sin.

Extreme sexual sin

Adultery is the worst sexual sin and violation of the law of chastity.

“Thou shalt not…commit adultery…nor anything like unto it.” 2

Adultery is only exceeded by murder as the most serious of sins. But adultery is more than a sexual sin; adultery is first committed “in the heart,” 3 and falls in the category of “anything like unto it.” Adultery that is first committed in the heart is explained by the Lord is these words:

“He that looketh on a woman (or man) to lust after her (him), or if any shall commit adultery in their hearts, they shall not have the Spirit, but shall deny the faith and shall fear.” 4

Prophetic warnings against sexual sin and abuse

Because sexual sin is one of the predominate and defining factors of the last days, and because sexual has infected and destroyed former civilizations, prophets of God have warned individuals and society to avoid and flee this epidemic.

Likewise, abuse of any kind—by word or by deed in any degree—or avoiding family responsibilities will bring the judgment of God upon an individual. Such behavior shatters families. Presently, divorce, which often results from some form of abuse, destroys half of all marriages in the United States alone.

Sexual sin masquerading as love

The trend for couples to temporarily or permanently unite without the contract of marriage is becoming the norm worldwide. This is sexual sin and not a true expression of love. Love is expressed by life-long covenant and full commitment. Anything less is a violation of God’s law of chastity and therefor sexual sin.

No civilization has endured or can endure by practicing or tolerating such instances of sexual sin. The scriptures are replete with prophets' warnings about the dangers and results of such trends. Despite belief to the contrary, God will not allow his commandments to be mocked.

“We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God.
