Coming Closer to God

He is our Father. He created the world and all of us. He knows and loves you.

God is our Heavenly Father

You are a child of God. Because He lives in heaven, we often call God our Heavenly Father. In His eyes, we are all equal and are worthy of love and happiness. Since God is all-knowing, He understands each of us on an individual level. He knows our strengths, our weaknesses, our hopes, and our fears. Our loving Heavenly Father is patient and forgiving. No matter who we are or what we’ve done, God wants us to reach out to Him so He can help us. As we turn to Him, we will experience greater joy in our lives.

God blesses us in many ways

Evidence of God’s love is all around us. We can learn to recognize God’s hand in our daily lives. God is constantly giving us gifts large and small. He gave us our lives, our talents, and this beautiful world. He also puts people in our lives because He knows we need them for support, love, and joy. As we feel that love from friends, family, or even strangers, we can begin to learn what love from God feels like.

God’s greatest gift to us is His Son Jesus Christ. Through Him, we can be forgiven and return to live with our Heavenly Father.

We can communicate with God through prayer

Just as we go to our parents for advice, we can go to God with our concerns, questions, and gratitude. God listens to your prayers and will answer. One of the ways He communicates with us is through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit can help us feel peace, warmth, comfort, and assurance. Through the Holy Spirit, we can know God loves us.

Centering our lives on God

Jesus taught that God, our Heavenly Father, is there for us when we reach out to Him. As we build a relationship with God, we can begin to use His power to help us overcome our challenges. You can start the journey of knowing God by praying to Him, reading His word, going to church, and serving others.
