Jesus Christ's Example Can Help With Parenting

By Comeuntochrist.org
Finding your way through parenting? Jesus Christ can help. Parents and children sitting on the floor of their home reading a book together

There are no perfect parents and no easy answers, but there are principles of truth that parents can rely on as they raise their children. Find out how to parent your children with the help and guidance of Jesus Christ:

1. Teaching

Teaching moments do not need to be dramatic or powerful. Teaching simple, gospel principles can help your children lead righteous, happy, and productive lives. (John 3:14).

2. Communication

The teaching, rearing, and training of children may require more out of you than any other challenge you face in life. As you communicate with your children about rules, standards and values, communicate with God, your Heavenly Father. He will guide you as you prayerfully seek to rear your children in love and righteousness.

3. Sacrifice

Good parenting requires sacrifices. As you practice sacrifice, you will develop a more Christ-like character. Jesus Christ sacrificed for the sins of all to give us the Atonement and plan of salvation. Service and sacrifice to our families expresses commitment to serve God and Jesus Christ.

It has been declared: “Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live.”

“If you try your best to be the best parent you can be, you will have done all that a human being can do and all that God expects you to do.” –Jeffrey R. Holland, “Because She Is a Mother.”
