The Savior Wants to Forgive

By Comeuntochrist.org

Mark was an addict and repeat convict. He was in and out of prison. He felt like he was the least deserving of God’s efforts to save him.

But God was always there.

Mark’s story reminds us that we can’t do anything to make God stop loving us. A modern prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Thomas S. Monson, said of God’s love, “That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank account. It is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply there. It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged or hopeful. God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve love. It is simply always there.”

It’s always there! He loves us because we are His. His Son paid the price for us to be forgiven from our sins because He wants us to come home to Him.

God’s love does not excuse us from following His commandments. Rather, it is because of His love for us that He invites us to make changes in our lives that bring us closer to Him.

He loves us. He wants to forgive. He will be with us every step of the way if we will look to Him.
