John 3:16—For God So Loved the World

God, our Father in Heaven, loves us immensely. His greatest gift to humankind, His Son, Jesus Christ, reflects that love. John 3:16 in the Bible describes God’s love and His plan for the happiness of His children.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God loves all of us

God loves everyone with an everlasting love. He is the father of our spirits. We are His children. He loves each one of us individually and wants us to come to know and love Him.

He sent His Son Jesus Christ

God knew that this life would be full of challenges and uncertainty. He knew that we would fall short and make mistakes. So He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He taught His gospel and showed us the right way to live. He willingly gave his own life as a sacrifice for our sins. He is our loving Savior and Redeemer.

For God So Loved the World

4:48

Give thanks for the Lord Jesus Christ: His life, His atoning sacrifice, and His resurrection.

We should believe and follow Him

While Jesus was on the earth, He taught His gospel. He taught that if we believe in Him, repent of our sins, and are baptized of water and of the Spirit, we will not perish. We will be forgiven. Jesus’s sacrifice makes that possible.

We can be with God again

This life does not end after death—we will all be resurrected. If we love God, believe in Him, and follow the gospel of Jesus Christ, God promises that we can return to live with Him after we die. Because God loves us, He wants us to be happy now and for eternity.
